Welcome to my digital portfolio website that highlights my work as a journalist. My name is Claire O’Neil and I’m from a small town in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. I’m a 2x graduate from West Virginia University, with a bachelor’s of science in broadcast journalism, with minors in marketing and entertainment media in 2021, along with a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications in 2022.
My website consists of my work through internships, throughout the school year, and from extracurricular activities like the WVU Film Club, RTDNA, Her Campus, and U92 The Moose.
After graduating with my journalism degree in May 2021, I worked at WTOV-9 News in Wheeling, WV and Steubenville, OH as on-air multi-media journalist during the summer and winter breaks. I had the pleasure of creating news stories every day while gaining valuable experience in broadcast news, along with working on the web and learning the digital side of the news. I spent this past summer working as Marketing Intern for JE Dunn Construction in Nashville, TN, where I worked with people in different industries and developed new skills in web & print content development and market research & analysis. You can check out my previous work from both jobs under the WTOV-9 and JE Dunn Construction tabs.
More recently during my master’s program, I worked as a teaching assistant for the Emmy award winning news show WVU News and as a graduate assistant for the WVU Creative Arts Center where I created video and photo content for the College’s social media accounts using a DSLR camera. You can view some of my work from this assistantship under the WVU CAC tab.
